At Ward Green we realise that starting school is an important step in your child’s life. We aim to make your child’s stay with us as happy, enjoyable and successful as we possibly can. We see the education of children as a team effort: parents, head teacher, teachers, ancillary staff, governors, cleaning and care-taking staff, kitchen and dining room staff and our lollipop lady. Each one of these links is as important as the others and we would like you as parents to feel part of that team (references to parents are taken to include other guardians legally responsible for the child). We continually strive to improve all that we do.
We have a shared ethos where everyone is valued, supported and respected. We provide children with a safe, secure and stimulating learning environment where the children receive high quality teaching and learning with an expectation that everyone achieves their full potential. To reach this aim we provide an exciting broad and balanced curriculum, providing life - long learning opportunities for all.

The Government have decided to review and change the current way we assess children in Year 1 to Year 6. National Curriculum Levels will not be used from September 2015. Instead we will be using a system called Sheffield Stat. Teachers will record what children can do against National Curriculum statements for Reading, Writing, Maths and SPAG. For each year group there are 3 Steps and if they are at National expectations they will be on the third step by the end of the year. We are holding coffee mornings/afternoons to try and explain the new assessment system so that you understand it better.
